Presentation build
Loveat Cafe An easier way to feed the office in Alexandria
A presentation rebuild for a working cafe in Sydney’s Alexandria: menus you can search, hours that know whether it’s open, and a catering order that prices itself as you build it.

Presentation build: a rebuild we designed and built for a working business, to show what its website could be. It is not the business’s official site.

01 — Challenge
The challenge
A neighbourhood cafe serves two kinds of customer online: the regular who wants to know whether it is open and what is on today, and the office manager who has to feed a meeting by tomorrow. Cafe websites too often serve neither, with a menu posted as a photo, hours that drift out of date and catering that means phoning during the lunch rush.
Loveat Cafe, a working cafe on Doody Street in Alexandria, Sydney, deserved a website that felt like its counter: warm, quick and straight about prices. We rebuilt it as a presentation for the owners, with a simple test: a passer-by should know at a glance whether the cafe is open, and an office should be able to price a catering order without picking up the phone.
02 — Solution
Our approach The solution
We built the brand around the cafe’s red-heart wordmark, with menus that read like the printed sheet on the counter, chalk-drawn icons and photographs from the cafe’s own Instagram. Then we made catering the easiest order on the page.
- Four menus set as printed sheets, with a search that finds any dish as you type
- Opening hours that run on Sydney time: a red heart pulses while the cafe is open, and the catering cut-off names the next working day
- A four-step catering order with its own date and time pickers, which works out GST and the total as you build it
- A filterable gallery with a lightbox, and an interactive map of the street drawn in the brand’s colours
- Light and dark themes, a first-visit intro that writes the logo on, and motion that respects reduced-motion settings
The owners can change menus, prices, catering items, opening hours and pages themselves in Payload CMS, without calling a developer.

03 — Outcome
The outcome
The rebuild gives the owners their own cafe, working, on their own phone: the menu, the hours and the catering order as their customers would meet them. It shows how we approach small hospitality businesses, where the website has to feel like the place and turn a phone call into an order.
This is a presentation build, not the cafe’s official website, and no orders or payments are processed through it.
